Five Superheroines that Inspire Fans

Any superheroine can look good and kick butt. However, it takes a special kind of superheroine to be inspiring. Inspiring superheroines are leaders and innovators. They break the social norms and create new ones. The new Wonder Woman movie shows that a leading lady as the superheroine can hold her own. The superheroines on this list do more than just kick some bad guy booty.

1. Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is not just an Amazon that kicks butt. She is a leader and truly believes in justice. Diana Prince stands apart from many women in the superhero universe.  She can work alone or join a team to stop the evil in the world. Wonder Woman proves that we can all be fierce warriors who do not need others to save them.

2. Captain Marvel

Carol Danvers is a hero of all trades. She proves that superheroines don’t have to fulfill limited roles. Captain Marvel can pilot, fight, and whip the various Avengers teams into shape. She holds the team together when it threatens to fall apart. Her confidence and endurance see her through many difficult times. Danvers fights many personal demons and manages to triumph each time.

3. Riri Williams

Riri slipping into the Iron Man suit was momentous on many levels. She is a teenage African-American female with a genius background in engineering. Riri built her own suit out of materials she stole around the college campus. Riri wasn’t afraid of the consequences in her goal to be a hero. Riri breaks through many stereotypes, giving inspiration to girls everywhere.

4. Kitty Pryde

Kitty went from precocious teenager to a strong, valued member of the X-Men. Kitty’s phasing power is not what makes her inspirational. Kitty puts herself on the line for her teammates. She’s stepped up as a leader often in the Marvel universe. Kitty uses her brains just as much as her superpower. I think she inspires us all to go beyond our limits.

5. Princess Leia

While she not strictly a superheroine, Princess Leia qualifies. She is a princess who can save herself. She also has a superpower, The Force, that she doesn’t use that much. Leia starts out as a rebellious princess and ends up a general of the Resistance. Her wit and brains help in bringing down the empire. To me, she is just as much a superheroine as someone in the Marvel or DC universe. She taught us princesses can save themselves.
