Ah, Twin Peaks. That lovely little logging town nestled in the woods of Washington state is the nexus of weirdness in what would become the cultiest of cult TV series. Twin Peaks also was the focus of one of our earliest Fandom Tumblr of the Week spotlights, when we featured The Tears of Twin Peaks back in 2012. We return to the series for this week’s feature with another Tumblr, this time sent in by Jess. If you want to suggest a blog we should feature here, just leave a note in the comments!
The Plaid of Twin Peaks
Fandom: Twin Peaks
Theme or gimmick: Every post captures and displays the use of plaid in Twin Peaks.
When it started: July 6, 2012
Why it’s great: The strangeness that draws fans to Twin Peaks has a lot to do with the characters and plots, but the series’ look and feel are integral components as well. A product of early ’90s television, today Twin Peaks seems especially otherworldly as its fashions and designs have receded into a fantastical creation of a recently bygone era. The show’s use of plaid is emblematic of both the time period and the backwoods setting, and it’s awesome to see an entire blog created to pay devotion to those crisscrossing lines and right angles. It’s even more impressive that Twin Peaks boasts enough plaid to keep this Tumblr in action for more than a year and still going strong!
