We took a week off from Tumblr features but are back now with another awesome one. Lots of sci-fi and fantasy franchises are full of all sorts of delectables, from the banquet feasts George R.R. Martin describes in Game of Thrones to the questionable Centauri comestibles of Babylon 5. One series I never really associated with food was Star Trek, but Tumblr schooled me on that this week. Check out our newest featured Fandom Tumblr of the Week to learn all about it!
Food Replicator
Fandom(s): Star Trek
Theme or gimmick: Each post is a recipe mimicking a food that has shown up on Star Trek.
When it started: July 24, 2012
Tumblr intro: “Eat your way through every recipe in the Star Trek universe! Learn the recipes and experience the final frontier of cuisine! Updates every Friday.”
Why it’s great: While I’m no chef (the extent of my culinary skills involves a bag of popcorn and a microwave), I love seeing fans getting creative with food when inspired by their favorite fandoms. Food Replicator has a fantastically grand collection of recipes, all complete with photos of the finished dishes, taken straight out of the Star Trek universe. A few of the selections are inspired by Trek but not actually featured in episodes or movies, such as the recently posted Into Darkness Black Forest Cake. If you have a knack for cooking and are a Trek fan, this blog just might be your mecca.
