The rest of this month I have decided to showcase three of my supernatural crushes. You will get a witch, a werewolf, and a vampire in honor of Halloween. I have decided to go a little witchy to start. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a canon for nerds everywhere. In my opinion, Willow was the best of the Scooby Gang — she started out as the awkward nerd girl and turned into a bad ass. Let’s all walk down memory lane and rekindle our love for Willow.

Who is She?

Willow Rosenberg was Buffy’s best gal pal on Buffy. She was played by the fabulous Alyson Hannigan. She was the computer nerd of the Scooby Gang and turned into its go-to witch. Actually, she became the most powerful witch in the whole dimension. You definitely didn’t mess with Willow or her friends. She is also in the Buffy comic series.

Fun Facts:

  1. Willow is one of two characters to appear in all 144 episodes. The second was, of course, Buffy.
  2. Willow thought Giles was sexy. Just another reason she loved the library.
  3. Willow almost got killed on her first date; he was a vampire.
  4. Willow was part of the Class of ‘99… the last class to graduate from Sunnydale High School before it blew up.
  5. Willow’s e-mail is willow@sunnynet.com.

Why is She Crushworthy?

I could always relate to Willow. I was definitely not Buffy when I was a teenager. Willow was like me. I was a shy, nerdy girl for whom high school was hell. I always thought Willow was way cuter than Buffy. Willow also helped to encourage my love for red hair. Willow was a such a great character to follow; I would have been friends with her in a heartbeat. Buffy would have been out of my league. It was fun to follow Willow’s transformation on the show and I always felt like I was along with her for the ride. I was always hoping for someone to love Willow on the show — from Oz to Tara, I was hoping that someone would work out for her. Of course, the loss of Tara brought on what I believe to be Willow’s defining moment.

Dark Willow was hot. I felt really bad that she was in pain; yet, the kick butt factor was off the rails. She was Super Saiyan Willow. It’s one of my favorite episodes of Buffy. I thought Dark Willow was the coolest thing ever. She went to the dark side and came out the other side. The awkward young lady was gone and she became a powerful woman and witch. I don’t believe Willow’s popularity has declined because the show has ended. Buffy characters have a myth-like status in the geeky world. I have seen Willow cosplayers at conventions. Willow has never gone out style. She will always be lovable and adorable.

I can go through a thousand reasons why Willow is crushworthy. There really are too many to count.  I always wanted to be like Willow… or take Willow on a date.
