Hi, folks! Crushworthy Characters has returned after a brief hiatus. It has undergone a facelift. I hope you enjoy the new format. Fall television is ramping back up and today’s crushes are from one of my favorite television shows. An enormous following sprung up around these two when Supernatural premiered in 2005. The show is still going strong and so are the two famous brothers.
Who Are They?
Sam and Dean Winchester are a pair of monster hunting brothers on the hit show Supernatural. The two have faced demons, vampires, angels, wendigos, and many other nasty nightmare creatures. They’ve saved the world many times and don’t get rewarded for their trouble. Dean is always looking out for Sam and would do anything to save him — even if it means the end of the world or spending time in Hell. The two brothers are like yin and yang but that just makes them more crushworthy. Honestly, I couldn’t write about one and not write about the other.
Fun Fact:
Sam has died 6 times on the show and Dean has died 111 times if you count the Trickster episode.
Why So Crushworthy?
I think it narrows down to which brother would you want to date. Sam and Dean both have their endearing qualities. Sam is the more mature, if younger, brother. He values life and tries to see the world beyond the life of a hunter. Sam has accepted what he is but he still hopes for a day when he doesn’t have to kill beasties anymore. He is definitely the nicer guy of the two brothers. However, he can sulk on a preternatural level. He usually does this when he finds out Dean has lied to him or done something else stupid. Sam is always looking for ways to fight darkness that don’t always involve death. You have to admire him trying to keep his humanity intact. Sam still has the optimism that Dean lacks. Sam is type of guy who would take you to a nice dinner and to see a foreign film. You could discuss books with him and take a long walk in the park. He would be the better choice for a long term and healthy relationship.
As much as I like Sam, Dean catches my attention more. He is the gruff and hardened anti-hero. He has been to Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory and he still standing. Dean takes the world as it is and is determined to keep the monsters at bay — at all costs. He is pretty pessimistic but that does not stop him from doing his job. Dean is rough around the edges and he knows it. However, his love for pie is adorable. Even the toughest of heroes have a soft spot. His biggest soft spot is his brother. Dean has and would do anything to protect same. Dean doesn’t care too much about himself but he does care about his brother. He thinks that if anyone has a chance for a normal life, it’s Sam. You can write a book on whether or not Dean’s actions are selfish or selfless. A date with Dean would probably end up with a destroyed hotel room and you footing the bill. You probably wouldn’t regret it too much.
