Agent Carter just wrapped up and it was another satisfying season. Once again the show was full of thrills and Peggy kicking booty. I’ve admired the character of Peggy Carter since the first Captain America movie. She is a good role model for a strong female lead. I was happy when she got her own television show. So, after a school-related hiatus, I bring you this week’s crushworthy character.
Who is She?
Margaret “Peggy” Carter is played by the lovely Hayley Atwell on ABC’s Agent Carter. The daring agent and future founder of S.H.I.E.L.D. made her first appearance on screen in Captain America: The First Avenger. In the comic books, she first appeared in Tales of Suspense #77 in 1966. Peggy is a tough soldier and spy who always gets the job done. She is loyal to her friends and tough on her enemies. Peggy packs a punch no matter what she is doing or where she is. Peggy reminds us that females are capable of great feats, even without super powers.
Fun Fact:
Peggy is a fan of whiskey and she is actually blonde in the comic books.
Why So Crushworthy?
Peggy is walking sass with a red hat. I’ve always been a fan of her cool and unruffled attitude. Peggy is good at being a spy, thief, and soldier and she doesn’t have to brag to prove it. Peggy can hold her own against any enemy. She doesn’t need a man to help her, but she will accept help if she needs it. She relies mainly on herself, but she trusts her allies to aid her. Peggy is more than a beautiful face. Her intelligence gets her out of sticky situations more than her brawn. Her ability to function under pressure is admirable. My brain gets frazzled under too much stress. I need to be more like Peggy. Furthermore, Peggy’s fierce personality is backed by a strong sense of justice. She does see the shades of gray in situations and works around them. That is why she isn’t above sneaking and lying to get out of a tricky situation. One of Peggy’s best qualities is the large heart hidden beneath the surface.
We know Peggy fell in in love with Steve Rogers, but she proved her heart expands to others. The past season really revealed the true affection she has for her friends. Peggy is willing to do anything to make sure everyone makes it home. I believe a strong leading female character can tussle with men and go on a date without her looking weak. I doubt Peggy would look helpless on any date. Peggy is a perfectly balanced character in terms of head vs. heart. Her crushworthiness has grown and I hope to see her again either on the television or in a Marvel film.
