There are some endings and new beginnings as we close out this arc of the Charmed storyline. Prue’s fate is decided, as is the rest of the family’s, and we are left pondering what might be in store for the Charmed Ones. Can they take control of their own fate instead of letting it be decided for them?
Note: This recap may contain spoilers!
As we start off the issue, Prue first threatens and then takes out Paige with a knife to her stomach. As we watch a blue smoke emanate from her body, we are in the same mindset as Piper: attack the one that seemingly killed her sister, even if it happens to be family. Prue is going to pay for what she’s done and Piper’s determined to be the one to make that happen. But don’t count Paige out yet. She’s got some life and power left in her, and she manages to orb them all back to the mansion. Then she starts changing a spell of the Power of Three to try and stop Prue’s endless destruction. The sisters must join together if they are going to take out Prue.
Elsewhere, Phoebe speaks the words of the Power of Three while she’s out with Coop and feels something is wrong. Her solution for taking out Prue is to use memories against her. While doing so with Prue’s own memories didn’t work out well, Phoebe wants to reflect her own memories back on her older sister in order to remind Prue what it was like growing up with her. And once she begins, it seems to be working, even though Prue’s putting up a pretty hard fight to not succumb. She’s warring with herself, asking her sister why she had to die, but eventually she understands how it must end. Prue asks Piper to help her die, and she puts the knife into her sister’s hand. Together, they release Prue from her mortal coil and all the magic is released.
Meanwhile, Kareem and Aidel are orbed to where Tyler’s tied up and get him released. Tyler is going to try to take on the Old Ones. If they can destroy the seeds that are in the kids’ chests, they might have a chance of closing the portals. A good plan, and one that they eventually achieve. The kids appear to be recovering from their ordeal and both Ben and Kyra seem to be okay, but Kyra’s none too happy with what has transpired. She wants to get away from the bad occurrences that keep happening, but Ben talks to her. He gets mad and urges her to take responsibility for her wanted changes. She could help the kids deal with what happened, and also help them make the world better.
As we end the issue, we do a time jump. We’re set to seven months later, and get some loose ends tied up. Phoebe has had the baby, Peyton, and the family greets them upon their return home. Paige is slowly recovering her memories, and her relationship with Henry is doing better. Kyra and Ben are rebuilding Knox Academy and Paige has a standing invitation there, when or if she’s ready. And, of course, Piper still misses Prue, but she’s looking toward the future. She talks to Leo and Coop about building a Witch Council to help with the matters of magic. The future looks hopeful, and we find that both Prue and Cole are actually hanging out around the mansion as spirits. They won’t show themselves, but they are there, listening and watching the family. Perhaps the Charmed Ones can control their own destiny now. We look forward to the future with them.
