At the end of the last issue, Captain Midnight stormed off to find his old friend, Chuck, after learning that Fury had taken him. Now, he and his new team blast into Sharkbyte Industries in London to take on Fury and find Chuck.

Note: This recap may contain spoilers!

Captain Midnight, Rick, Jones and Charlotte all infiltrate the building. I say infiltrate, but they really burst in through glass windows and start shooting. During the fight, Fury and her bodyguard, Phang, run away. Midnight chases after them, leading to an epic scene in a hallway filled with water.

Throughout the issue, Rick is narrating, explaining why he likes Midnight so much and how much Midnight has changed since he came to the modern world. Midnight arrests Fury, instead of killing her, as he might have in the past. They take her to a base and put her in a glass cage, jokingly called the Shark Tank. Fury then taunts Midnight, saying he’s rebuilt his family. Rick stands in for Chuck, Charlotte stands in for Joyce, and Jones stands in for Barry Steele.

Midnight pushes all that aside and asks where she’s keeping Chuck. Fury taunts Midnight further saying that Chuck is working with her willingly, that he sold out. The comic flashes back to Mexico and Chuck says he will let Fury have access to all of Albright Industries’ files. So Sharkbyte Industries can make anything using Midnight’s tech, but Albright Industries gets first shot at it. Midnight is horrified by this revelation.

Then to make matters worse, Helios shows up. He soundly beats Rick, Charlotte, and Jones before popping into Fury’s cell. Midnight calls Helios out on his behavior, and Helios replies that he and Chuck are doing it to save Midnight. Helios disappears and Midnight now realizes he has to take down Chuck or else things could get worse.

I thought this issue was really well done. There are a few shocking moments that I didn’t see coming. The story seems to be picking up steam, with Chuck and Helios now being… not bad exactly, but enemies of Midnight. I’m still intensely interested in Helios and who he could be. It will be interesting to see what happens in a showdown between Midnight and Chuck.
