The Scooby gang are back in our universe, but the ramifications of their journey are long-lasting. With changes afoot and dangers crossing the portals, it’s going to take a united front for all involved.
Note: This recap may contain spoilers!
We start off by catching up with Faith and Kendra. They are the Slayers that make the choices that others won’t. And perhaps that will serve them well with what’s yet to come. We learn that the journey to the other universe has affected them both. Kendra is concerned that she might see other Kendra sometime, which is unsettling her. Meanwhile, Faith keeps thinking she sees something in the shadows, but then it disappears. I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss the invisible threats because they are sure to come into the light soon.
Across town, Willow’s been researching summoning portals, but the dangers are not bound to books alone. Meeting up with Buffy, she tells the Slayer that she thinks a Lurker followed her back. It might be easy to just let the Lurker take her memories, release her from the constant burden she’s been under, but it’s not the right step. Instead, she needs to find a way to fight against the creature before it overtakes her.
Meanwhile, Morgan’s over at Anya’s place. She’s wondering if she shouldn’t go to one of the other worlds and stay there, escape all she’s facing in this world. Anya wants to give her some relief, but they still have work to do. Perhaps it’s time that Morgan know the full truth. No more secrets, Anya needs to tell Morgan about Silas; the one who the Lurkers consume all those memories for. He is surely to play a large role in what’s to come.
After witnessing all the different threads separately, we begin to see them come together. Kendra and Rose spend the night babysitting Growly, showing us a nice, normal, domestic scene as they bid Giles goodbye. But it’s clear once the Watcher exits the house that he’s keeping something from Kendra. We soon learn what that is, by way of Faith and Robin. They have a meeting at the mayor’s office, where Cordelia’s now working part-time. Wesley’s also in attendance and we find out that the mayor is in the know about the Council affairs. He says that Giles has been relieved of his Watcher duties, which comes as a shock to Faith and Robin. I hope Giles breaks the news to Kendra and Buffy soon.
As Wesley’s got more pressing matters to attend to, he does not meet with Giles and Anya for the research meeting they had planned. But the duo won’t get much research done, since the Lurker chases Willow and Buffy right to their front door. Added to that, Ghost!Ethan is tired of being incorporeal, so he takes over living Ethan’s body. He tries to take on the Lurker himself, only to be stopped by Giles, Willow, and two versions of Buffy. So much going on, so many threads that are intersecting into something explosive. Get ready!
