Buffy’s still gone, the residents of Sunnydale are in a bad state of mind, and changes are afoot. Will the world survive in Buffy’s absence or will the power of the Hellmouth be too much to bear? Interesting developments are in store.

Robin feels like he’s in over his head. While he’s carrying on with mundane chores, like clearing the gutters, he knows there’s more serious issues to deal with. Namely, the world is literally falling apart around them and he’s got a Slayer who is pushing him to fulfill his destiny of being her Watcher. He’s not ready for that heavy load, and he is latching onto Buffy being the only true Slayer. But Buffy’s missing and the world needs a Slayer. What’s a young guy to do?
Well, seeking out the advice of another Watcher seems to be a good plan. Too bad Giles is in a constant bad mood and in no frame of mind to help Robin. Even with Robin continually trying to call him out on his attitude, Giles is not willing to listen. And both Xander and Willow aren’t to be of any help either, as Robin calls them both out on their tendency to shift blame to others. They have to get used to Buffy not being around and step up to the challenge. Seems like Robin’s on his own.
Meanwhile, more members of town are in danger. Sandy’s missing, and the last person to see her was Robin. Now it’s Cordelia’s turn. She gets lured down an alley when someone calls for help and gets pulled into a cellar, locked inside. Now no one can locate her. That is, until Rose comes along. She’s still dealing with the break-up with Willow and goes over to Luke’s house to deliver homework. That’s where she finds Cordelia, tied up in the cellar and being held hostage by Luke.
Luke’s going through some things that are making him mentally unstable. After hitting Rose over the head with a stick, ranting about random atrocities, he has to face off with both girls. Cordelia lunges at him and gets him down before Rose grabs a pair of garden shears to protect them. And the cycle of violence kicks off. Luke rushes at Cordelia with a mallet, then Rose stabs him in the back with the shears before Cordelia punches him. Even with all the attacks, Luke still won’t stay down and manages to lunge at them once again before someone hits him over the head with the mallet. Both Cordelia and Rose think Buffy has come to the their rescue, but it’s actually Kendra and Robin.
There’s a new Slayer in town and everyone’s going to have to deal with the opening of the Hellmouth without Buffy’s help. I wonder how much things will continue to devolve, if the townspeople’s mental instability will threaten their safety. And will Giles be too far gone to save before his Slayer returns? We will have to wait and see!
