The groundwork is laid for gathering Team!Angel and we get some more insight into the characters that we will soon meet. An interesting set-up that makes me look forward to what’s to come.

As we begin, Angel’s inside the world of the demon, who is taunting him constantly. Meanwhile, Lilith is trying to get Fred to focus as she needs to know what important role she will play in the future. These are the two settings the issue centers around.
In the demon’s lair, Angel is treated to some very twisted illusions of both past and present. At one point, Angel thinks he sees Mara there, but when he calls out for her, she runs away. Giving chase, Angel finally catches up to the blond girl, but it is not Mara. Instead, it’s revealed to be Buffy, though Angel does not know her yet. She is a glimpse of the sorrow that will be Angel’s future, and that sorrow becomes physical as she raises her stake and stabs Angel before she burns away.
Angel manages to get some help from our world, in fighting against the visions he’s witnessing. Lilith pauses her work on Fred to reach out to help Angel. She urges him to see through the illusions and find the demon’s name. With that in mind, Angel starts engaging the demon in hopes he can find out the information. The demon says he’s been ordained by the sources of all darkness, but still Angel taunts him until he says his name – Amarkax. Now that Angel has his name, he binds the demon to the void and remain silent. With Lilith’s power behind him, the order works, and Angel can once again rejoin our world.
He comes back bloodied, but not beaten, and Fred is there to greet him. While Lilith has taken her leave, Fred is more sane than when Angel left, thanks to Lilith’s intervention. And Fred has some information to bestow. Lilith told her that Angel has to “unite them.” While Angel doesn’t know who “them” are, Fred has some idea. She is one of “them” and Angel has to save the rest before it’s too late. She even has names, or titles at least – The Warrior, The Sorceress, The Watcher, and The Slayer. They are all being hunted by the source of all darkness and Angel must save them. First he must find the Warrior, the weapon, the one named Gunn. And so begins what looks to be a mission to get Team!Angel together to fight against the coming evil. I look forward to the adventure!
