The gang are back in their own world, but recovery from what they’ve experienced is going to take a while. Things are not going very well and they’re about to get much worse.

While the world has righted itself and destroyed locations are being restored, the recovery of the Scooby gang is going to take much longer. Nightmares and what-ifs plague Buffy. She’s dealing with the weird relationship and separation from Robin, while also thinking about all the other versions of herself in other worlds. There are a lot of potentials of what she could be. And even though her mom tries to console her and support her, it’s clear that this is something bigger than can be solved with a motherly conversation. She urges Buffy to talk to someone, one of her friends, about what she’s feeling. It’s advice worth taking.
Meanwhile, Giles is in therapy to try to deal with all that he’s gone through. It seems impossible to return to normality after what he’s witnessed. The implications of where the paths have led for the other versions of themselves seems almost too much to deal with. Plus, Ethan’s back inhabiting a version of his body. And we find out that Dorthy, who sacked Giles from being a Watcher, is actually his mother. She’s also helping Wes and Faith carry out their mission, without the others knowing of their plan. Interesting! I do foresee their plan and the Scooby’s plan eventually being in conflict or causing more danger than if they worked together. We shall have to see.
The issue’s plotline wraps up in the Magic Shop and what happens as a result of the gathering there will have long-term ramifications. Giles and Anya are in attendance, along with Ethan and Willow. The latter two are training together. Somehow, Ethan and Willow get onto the astral plane, though it wasn’t there doing. Ethan knows that something’s interfering with them and they are in danger. They need to leave, which they eventually do, but not before being faced with Silas. He is the demon who is responsible for all the dangers thus far. Even though Giles doesn’t trust Anya’s information that this is who is behind it all, Willow gets up close and personal with Silas and we can tell that he is up to no good. Silas knows where they are and it’s just a matter of time before he becomes a danger to them in their world. They need to get ready!
