Man, it’s been way longer than I thought since I posted one of these lists. I have so many that I want to share that I’ll include a bit more than usual, but I’ll still end up with multiple parts! Let’s dive in to the videos, shall we? (I’ll note here that some songs are explicit, but I’m not going to label each one in the interest of saving me a bit of time).
Sci-Fried – “Fifty One”
First up we have a video from Sci-Fried for their UFO song, “Fifty One.” When the band was in Roswell, they did some filming, both in and out of the car. It kinda makes me want to go; looks like fun.
Mr. Gee – “The Spoiler Free Song”
Don’t spoil stuff for others. Just don’t. Mr. Gee has a song to help you remember.
Ambush Vin – “Warp Drive”
Ambush Vin is here to remind us why lyricism is so important to being an emcee. Nicely done!
Molly Lewis – “Road Trip”
This is an updated version of Molly’s song about Lisa Nowak performed live with Gideon Klein. You can hear her talk about this song and other stuff on my podcast episode with her.
Vince Vandal – “I’m Alive (Fallout 4 Rap)” (ft. Sulfur and MC-3PO)
It was actually this video that convinced me to take the plunge to buy Fallout 4. Well, that and the fact that it happened to be on sale. But, yeah, definitely this video for sure.
The Doubleclicks – “Kilogram”
An ode to the standard of measurement used to determine exactly how much a kilogram should mass. If you don’t know about the search for using math to create the new standard, you really ought to look it up. It’s very cool!
Shubzilla and Bill Beats – “Pump It Up”
I love the way the metaphor in the song becomes perfectly visual in the video. Amazing!
Kraken Not Stirred – “Pogo Zombie Is a Jerk”
There are not enough songs about Plants vs. Zombies. At least Kraken Not Stirred has one.
Bonecage – “Dogmeat”
I’m a cat person (I literally have a cat on my lap as I type this), but even I can appreciate Dogmeat from Fallout 4. At the very least, he brought me a Cryolator, so that’s got to count for something.
Fable Cry – “The Good Doctor (Live in Nashville)”
Oh, man, I really need to get up to Nashville to see a Fable Cry show sometime. Or maybe they can get down here to Florida sometime. Regardless, this is absolutely awesome!
Professor Elemental – “Weird, Weird West” (ft. Steam Powered Giraffe)
When two Steampunk artists team up, you just know it’s going to be good. And this does not disappoint.
Allie Goertz – “Dance Bitch”
Wubba lubba dub dub! The first video from Allie Goertz’s Rick and Morty EP features dancing, multiple time lines, and even Alex Hirsch. Awesome!
Marc with a C – “Unicorns Get More Bacon”
Here we have Marc’s first video from his newest album, the title track. As always, it’s a great track and video. And it features one of my favorite lines from the album: “An artist needs a patron, and unicorns get more bacon.” I’m kinda hoping this means Marc starts a Patreon soon.
Uke-A-Ladies – “Change (Stomp Song)”
I first became aware of the Uke-A-Ladies because they opened for Marc with a C’s album release party (which sadly, I ended up not being able to attend since I can’t really afford both it and the Ongaku Overdrive show in April). I’m really impressed with their harmonies, and it would have been really cool to see them on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, but that won’t happen this time at least.
Picnibus – “Bad Accent”
Speaking of Tiny Desk Concert entries, here’s one from the amazing Picnibus. What a great stripped-down version of this song; the conceit is a perfect commentary on prejudice. So good! Again, too bad it didn’t make it.
