I’ve never really given villains their due. Sure, they are bad guys. They antagonize the protagonists and we are supposed to dislike them. But sometimes, the villain is just too crushworthy. You may end up liking them more than than the villain. And as I made this list, I realized it was difficult to narrow it down — there are just so many crushworthy villains out there. But here, I present my narrowed-down list of the most crushworthy villains.
In no particular order…
1. Loki (Marvel Comics)
I think everyone had a soft spot for Thor’s troublemaking brother, but Tom Hiddleston solidified the fandom.
2. Khan (à la Benedict Cumberbatch) (Star Trek)
Fans knew that Benedict could play a genius, but a genius and a bad guy was a potent combination.
3. Dracula
No matter what the version, the true king of the night is usually painted with the brush of evil — and men and women both still love him.
4. Cersei Lannister (Game of Thrones)
It was never decided if Cersei was cringeworthy or crushworthy, but men are willing to die for her.
5. Melisande Shahrizai (Kushiel’s Legacy)
Her legendary beauty and brains led to the fall of major royal houses and an near takeover of her homeland.
6. Damon Salvatore (The Vampire Diaries)
Damon may straddle the fence now in terms of being a bad guy, but he has no issues being evil when it suits.
7. Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)
The silver-haired sword wielder still inspires and draws in hordes of fanboys and girls to this day.
8. Light Yagami (Death Note)
Light went crazy with his godlike powers, but he still had that charming personality and killer looks.
9. Magneto (à la Michael Fassbender) (X-Men)
People know he is amoral and mostly evil, but you can’t help but like him anyway.
10. Catwoman (DC Comics)
Selina Kyle has an interesting set of rules and a lack of morality that make her a femme fatale.
Lastly, Happy Halloween!
Sephroth was in Final Fantasy 7 NOT 6… You guys have 6 listed on here… Please fix it, i’m an avid FF fan and he was also seen “reborn” in the movie Final Fantasy Adavant Children, which is based off the game FF7. Please make the correction, i’d appreciate it!
