I really do love the show Once Upon a Time. I just takes me some time to warm up to some characters. There are some I have loved right off, like Hook. Others, you know, I have loathed. Emma Swan is one I haven’t made up my mind about after four seasons. I mean, sometimes I like her, sometimes I don’t. That is why she has made today’s article.

Who is She?
Emma Swan one of the main protagonists — the savior — on ABC’s Once Upon a Time. She is played by Jennifer Morrison. Emma is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming. Her parents sent her into our world in order to break the curse cast by the Evil Queen. Emma reunited with her parents and the son she gave up ten years before in Storybrooke. Since then, she has been on one fairytale adventure after another, saving the day.
For Crushworthy:
After some struggles, Emma fit into the heroine role pretty well. She will be one of the first to jump into the fray when evil strikes. Emma has a strong sense of justice. She really doesn’t see things in shades of grey. You are either a bad guy or good guy. Emma still maintains her “keep it real” attitude even after tangling with dragons and giants. That serves her well when other characters want to rely on magic or the rules of the Enchanted Forest. Emma has a foot both worlds which helps her out of many scrapes. The girl has street smarts. I like the fact that you don’t know which way Emma’s heart will go. She guards it pretty well, except with her son. Her journey through the story continues to be more interesting and her character continues to grow.
Also, I’m very interested in this Dark Swan thing. I think it might up the crushworthy factor for me.
For Cringeworthy:
Emma can be a real hard case. It’s most likely from her abandonment issues, but she can be totally rigid. She is willing to believe the worst in anyone. Once you lose her good opinion, it takes nearly a whole season to get it back. She is stubborn to the point I want to yell at her to move on. Her black-and-white way of thinking has gotten her into trouble a few times. Or it just drives me nuts. I think Seasons One and Two were where she really was off my crushworthy meter. She was determined to be hard hearted to protect herself from feelings, especially reconnecting with her parents. She had to be the toughest character on the block. I felt like this hurt Emma Swan’s character more than it did any good. Also, Seasons One and Two of reminded me too much of Jennifer Morrison’s character on House M.D. And I didn’t like that character at all. She still does things that drive me nuts on the show. Still, she is less cringeworthy now.
However, I think this season may tip the balance either way.
