The eleventh issue of Captain Midnight starts with a flashback. It’s set just a few hours before the team infiltrates the London offices of Fury Shark and find Chuck. Charlotte is escorting her grandma, Joyce, to a helicopter, while Rick looks for Midnight. Cap says he’s still adjusting to this new time and is upset that Chuck could be a bad guy. The issue then jumps to where we left off last time, with Rick dead and Midnight fighting Helios.

Midnight and Helios’s fight not only takes them all over the building, but out into the city. Since Helios’s teleportation device is based off Midnight’s, Midnight is able to attach himself to Helios and follow him. Midnight questions Helios’s loyalty to Chuck, but Helios is evasive as always. The fight is evenly matched until they land back in the building. Helios attempts to remove the device but ends up losing an arm. It’s not explicitly said if he’s dead, so he could have just lost the arm.
Meanwhile, Charlotte and Jones have taken down the remaining men and Charlotte turns on Chuck and prepares to shoot him. Midnight tries to talk her down, but she isn’t dissuaded. Unfortunately, Chuck thought ahead, knowing the kind of people he was up against. He rigged the building to explode, so the team flies out using Midnight’s old suits. After getting back to their base, Charlotte, Jones, and Midnight split up for two months, each working on their own issues.
However, things have not been going smoothly in those two months. A new villain appears who wants to get rid of Midnight and a slew of other heroes. Jones makes his way back to Midnight and asks for his help in solving some murders in the Midwest, which may be connected to this villain. Midnight agrees and they fly off, ending this story arc.
The issue was very good, in that it kind of wrapped up Chuck and Helios’s story, but left enough mystery that they could return. The new villain seems very dangerous and he seems to have known Fury Shark and found her to be weak, which doesn’t bode well for our hero. I’m also interested in finding out about these other heroes and seeing how they interact with Midnight.
