Based on the cover of this issue, this might be when things begin to take a turn for the worst. The planet of Aquilae seems to be coming under attack from a large object, presumably the Death Star. However, the object is unnamed and slowly making its way towards the planet.
Note: This recap may contain spoilers!
Luke takes Annikin, who is now a Captain (perhaps a rank of Jedi since Annikin seems too young to be a military Captain) and goes to see the king. Kane takes his leave to visit Han Solo, a Ureallian, not a Corellian as in the expanded universe. The King of Aquilae doesn’t heed Luke’s warnings and will not act quickly. Suddenly the large object disappears, leaving Luke wondering what is going on.
Meanwhile we see Annikin trying to kiss a woman. Luke lectures him about Jedi ways, which do not include love, sex, or marriage. Kane obviously ignored these ways as he had two sons, and Luke won’t have Annikin follow his father’s path. Annikin is given the job to pick up Princess Leia, who isn’t pleased about it. This seems like it might be the beginning of a romance between the two, but it remains to be seen if it will be a love triangle.
The massive object attacks and Aquilae goes to war against it. The object looks like the Death Star we know and the attack on it by the Aquilaens looks like the final fight in the first movie. Inside the object we find R2-D2 and C-3PO, and surprisingly R2 doesn’t speak in noises, but actual words. During the fight, familiar names pop out like Chewie and Mace, which means that there might be no Chewbacca in this version. After three hours, the war is “over”; however, Luke refuses to accept this and declares it’s just begun.
It’s interesting to see the differences and the similarities between this comic and the original movies. I really like this version of R2 and 3PO — their banter is still funny, especially since you can understand both sides. I’m interested in what this Han will be like and if he’ll have a romance with Leia, or if Annikin will.
