Because of the way licensing got gobbled up, there have been multiple camps working on Marvel movies for quite a while now. Nothing too blatantly conflicting has happened as a result of the divvied up characters, but that’s about to change thanks to some double casting in upcoming superhero movies. 20th Century Fox has cast American Horror Story‘s Evan Peters as Quicksilver, the son of mutant mastermind Magneto, in their X-Men: Days of Future Past. As it turns out, Joss Whedon has been planning to use Quicksilver in his own little upcoming flick called The Avengers 2. Since the two Marvel movie universes are separate entities, Whedon’s Quicksilver will have a different actor, and it’s starting to sound like Kick-Ass‘s Aaron Taylor-Johnson could be donning the white wig and blue spandex. The Wrap reports that Marvel is courting Johnson for the role, and let’s be honest. If Joss Whedon and Marvel want you to be in The Avengers 2, you’re going to say “yes,” right? The deal isn’t confirmed, but it’s looking more likely than not.
