The thing that’s so charming about Darkwing Duck, aside from his habit of not quite saving the day, and his cool costume, is his outrageous ego. In real life, you can’t get away with too much ego. It will always blow up in your face (unless you’re Donald Trump, of course). But Darkwing can. He is a superhero duck, after all.
But not in this issue. FOWL has resurrected the mind-controlling monstrosity called, of course, Duckthulhu. Duckthulhu is so horrendous that Steelbeak and Femme Appeal, two sworn enemies, have teamed up with Darkwing to thwart FOWL’s fiendish plans.
Of course, Darkwing’s ego is fueling Duckthulhu’s powers, so there is no way to defeat him. No way, that is, until Morgana shows up and creates a topsy-turvy reality. Only by bending the rules of the space-time continuum can Morgana and the rest of Darkwing’s allies make him rein in his ego.
This issue features the usual excellent art and brilliant colors. The plot falls apart at the end, with the non-reality thing getting, but it showcases the personalities that have gathered around Darkwing. So, there is that. If you dig the Duck, you’ll like this issue.
