So, we all know what premiered last Sunday. I heard it broke the HBO Go app, so many people were on there. Game of Thrones has a complex world with many kingdoms and characters. It’s hard not to get wrapped up in the universe. I think some of us imagine living in the places we read about in fiction or see on television. Those places can be wondrous and beautiful. And… some of them are horrible pits of despair. So here is my list of places I would not want to take a leisure vacation to in Westeros.
1. The Wall
Tyrion may have wanted to pee off the top of the wall but I am not inclined to do so. That place is cold. I have an aversion to cold weather. The wall would be the worst place for me. It may have a lovely view from the top but I really don’t care to freeze while looking at it. Also, you can’t expect much in the way of accommodation at Castle Black.
2. The Iron Islands
The seat of the Greyjoys has to be one of the most cheerless places in Westeros. The population consists of grim pillagers and water priests. Don’t expect any welcome from the rulers of the Iron Islands either. The castle is very unsafe as well. Those tiny little bridges connecting the towers make it easy to plummet to your doom.
3. King’s Landing
It may be the seat of the Iron Throne but the city itself is quite awful. Most of the population of King’s Landing lives in poverty, thanks to the rulers, and you are most likely to get robbed. Mobs are a daily thing thanks to the ruling hand of King Joffrey. The Targaryen Dragons are no longer displayed so there is nothing to see there anymore.
4. The Red Waste
Dany didn’t enjoy her adventure in the desert and neither would I. You would probably die of thirst or starvation. There is nothing to see but ruins, sand, and little trees. Dany and her gang almost bit the dust here. I don’t like extreme heat either so the Red Waste is not on my list of Westeros destinations.
