The Bride! arrived on Digital April 7, followed by 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on May 19. Written, directed, and produced by Maggie Gyllenhaal, the film stars Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale alongside Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz in a reimagining of the classic Frankenstein mythology.
Set in 1930s Chicago, the story follows a lonely man known as Frank, who seeks out a groundbreaking scientist to create a companion for him. Together they revive a murdered young woman, giving birth to The Bride. What begins as an experiment quickly spirals into something far more chaotic and unpredictable, pulling its characters into a collision of obsession, violence, rebellion, and romance.
The film combines gothic horror, dark comedy, and period drama with Gyllenhaal’s distinct visual and storytelling style. Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale lead a cast that brings the film’s unusual world to life, while the production design, costumes, and practical creature effects help shape its larger-than-life tone.
