There’s a new Star Wars movie coming to theaters, but it’s not quite what you might expect. Lucasfilm is developing an all-digital animated film called The Clone Wars to kick off their new ongoing animated TV series. Set in the era between Episodes 2 and 3 (like the original 2D animated Clone Wars series that aired on the Cartoon Network and now is collected on DVD), this series will delve more into the legendary conflict that set the stage for the rise of the Sith and the fall of the Jedi.
The last few days have seen a flurry of activity around this upcoming film, as what was purported to be a legit copy of the theatrical trailer was leaked onto YouTube. Within a short period, multiple copies showed up there, all quickly shut down by Lucasfilm. Today, however, Gizmodo has the real deal on their website.
