Rock Band: The Day the Music Died

It’s been a long and steady trip, but Harmonix’s weekly downloadable songs for Rock Band ends today with one final release. Don McLean’s “American Pie” marks a fitting conclusion to a remarkable 281 week streak of new music for the landmark music game. Although no new songs will be coming to Rock Band through regular channels, Harmonix will continue to support the game through server updates and continual Rock Band Network music releases. And who knows what’ll happen when the next generation of consoles hits? It’s pretty likely that one of the new projects they’re working on will be the next incarnation of Rock Band, which will debut on the PS4 and next Xbox, and it surely will need a heaping helping of DLC. Until that happens, this will be your final weekly music update from Fandomania. Thanks for hanging in there!
