The first artist named as the Rock Band Network’s “T-Mobile Artist-of-the-Month” was released yesterday, and the winner is the Arizona trio Blackmarket, an intense-yet-melodic hardcore rock outfit out of the hedonistic party town of Lake Havasu, AZ.

Described as “an arsenal of huge guitar riffs…leave-it-all-out-onstage rock ‘n roll” by Flavorpill LA and “one relentless riff to another” by Performing Songwriter, Blackmarket is composed of frontman/guitarist Daryl Lamont, bassist Mikey Emerson, and drummer Langdon Chieffo. The trio brought their “honed-since-junior-high-in-basements-and-garages-camaraderie,” as the Rock Band Network describes it, together in 2008 and to create their acclaimed debut album The Elephant In The Room, which was released by No Office Records in November of that year.

The band recently completed work on the tracks for their sophomore album, St. Vincent Décor, produced by Pete Min (Airborne Toxic Event). Blackmarket’s producers have worked with such musical luminaries as Radiohead, Hole, Morphine, Weezer, and Dunkin Sheik. According to the Rock Band Network, these connections are no accident: the “tightness of the hooks, the insight in the lyrics,” and the undeniable power of Blackmarket’s presentation are all immediately apparent.

Blackmarket’s single “Tongue Twister Typo” is available on the Rock Band Network, inevitably catapulting the already popular band and their upcoming album to even higher acclaim. “Tongue Twister Typo” can be purchased for Xbox 360 in the Rock Band Network Store for 80 Microsoft points. The Rock Band 2 game disc is required to play the song game track. For music credits, visit RockBand.com.
