One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Digital on November 11, marking the film’s first release in 4K resolution with HDR. Directed by Miloš Forman and based on the novel by Ken Kesey, the 1975 classic stars Jack Nicholson in his first Academy Award-winning role, alongside Louise Fletcher, Will Sampson, Danny DeVito, Brad Dourif, William Redfield, and Christopher Lloyd.
The film follows Randle McMurphy, a rebellious inmate who fakes insanity to serve his sentence in a mental institution rather than prison. Once inside, his defiance against the strict authority of Nurse Ratched sparks both chaos and courage among the patients, leading to one of the most iconic power struggles in American cinema.
Timed to the film’s 50th anniversary, this new edition includes a 4K restoration and a collection of new and legacy bonus features. Highlights include Conversations on Cuckoo: Group Therapy and Moviemaking Memories, with producer Michael Douglas joined by Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, and Brad Dourif to reflect on the production and its legacy. Also included are deleted scenes and the acclaimed documentary Completely Cuckoo, which traces the film’s journey from page to screen.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is available November 11 on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Digital.
