Catching Fire, the second movie in the Hunger Games trilogy, is just around the corner, but news already is swirling around the big screen adaptation of the third and final book in the series, Mockingjay. We already know that this final book will be split across two movies, as is the Hollywood fashion with these sorts of things, and now we know who might be playing a pivotal character in those concluding films. The Hollywood Reporter (be careful with clicking the link, because they’re a little free and loose with spoilery details about this character) has learned that Julianne Moore is in talks to play Alma Coin. Saying much about this character would give away some plot turns for the upcoming Hunger Games movies, so we’ll refrain in the interest of those who have yet to read the books.
No stranger to genre movies, Julianne Moore will be appearing later this year as the titular character’s mother in the remake of Stephen King’s Carrie. For the rest of you, what do you think about this likely Mockingjay casting? Can Moore pull off a convincing Coin, or did you have somebody else in mind?
