Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles arrives on Digital and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on September 22, marking the first time the 1994 film will be available in 4K resolution with HDR. Directed by Neil Jordan and based on Anne Rice’s novel, the film stars Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Stephen Rea, Christian Slater, and Kirsten Dunst. The newly remastered release also includes new bonus material looking back at the making of the film more than three decades later.

The story unfolds as Louis, a 200-year-old vampire, recounts his life to a reporter in modern-day San Francisco. His story begins with his transformation into a vampire by the charismatic and ruthless Lestat and follows their complicated existence together across generations. Their relationship becomes even more tangled with the arrival of Claudia, a young girl transformed into a vampire and condemned to remain physically a child even as the years pass.

Released in 1994, Interview with the Vampire brought Rice’s gothic world to the screen with Cruise as Lestat, Pitt as Louis, and a young Dunst as Claudia. The film received two Academy Award nominations, including Best Original Score and Best Art Direction, and helped introduce Rice’s Vampire Chronicles to a much larger moviegoing audience.

The Digital and 4K Ultra HD releases include two newly produced behind-the-scenes features. Eternal Night and Deadly Light brings together Jordan and editor Mick Audsley to examine cinematographer Philippe Rousselot’s approach to the film’s gothic imagery. Interview with the Vampire: Creating the World features Jordan and production designer Dante Ferretti discussing the sets, locations, and costumes used to build the film’s world. The release also includes newly presented deleted scenes.

Previously released extras return as well, including a commentary with Jordan, an introduction by Anne Rice, Jordan, and Banderas, In the Shadow of the Vampire, and Lestat, Louis and the Vampire Phenomenon.

Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles is available September 22 on Digital and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.
