The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey released during the 2012 holiday season, and this weekend fan favorite card company Cryptozoic announced that they will be making trading card series for this first movie and its two sequels. Cryptozoic previously has put out trading card series based on The Walking Dead, Fringe, The Vampire Diaries, and many other popular properties. Miranda Charsky, the company’s trading card brand manager said, “The Hobbit features a wealth of great characters, locations, and adventures from Middle-earth. We’re very excited to work with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to bring fans of this timeless story something very special and authentic to these epic films.”
The first series of Hobbit cards will be releasing in 2014, with sets based on The Desolation of Smaug and There and Back Again following.
