It feels like it’s been a very long time since I’ve posted any kind of list. This one’s been accumulating for quite some time. Lots of duplicate artists and songs here, but all good stuff!

AJ in Evolution – “Drunk Classic Rock Fans” (originally by Marc with a C) (NSFW)

It’s a nice, straightforward cover of a Marc with a C favorite. I really like it.

Zaccheus Jammer – “You’re My Princess” (originally by Marc with a C) (NSFW)

Yup, someone actually covered this song that Marc wrote while sleepwalking on Ambien. I wonder if the cover was done the same way…

The Doubleclicks and Professor Shyguy – “My Eyes” (originally from the Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog soundtrack)

Yes, this is just as awesome as you’d expect it to be. Go check it out if you haven’t already!

The Doubleclicks – “The Middle” (originally by Jimmy Eat World)

It was actually really difficult for me to pick one particular cover by The Doubleclicks since they’ve been releasing so many lately. But this is definitely one of the best of a really great group.

Uncle Monsterface – “Like a Prayer” (originally by Madonna)

Having just discovered Uncle Monsterface last year, I had to go back and check out their back catalog as well. Turns out they have some rather quirky covers in their repertoire. How cool!

Diatonic Nerds – “Setting Sail, Coming Home” (originally from the Bastion soundtrack by Darren Korb)

I’m pretty sure I’ll never tire of covers of this song. Certainly this instrumental one won’t be the one that does it; it’s absolutely wonderful.

Psychostick – “ABCDEath” (NSFW)

A heavy metal version of the alphabet song. Seriously.

MC iPod – “Real American” (Hulk Hogan’s theme song, originally by Rick Derringer)

Oh, man, as loathe as I am to admit it, I was at one time a huge WWF fan (yes, before they were the WWE). And I even owned the album that the original song came on. And enjoyed it. Look, it was a different time… Yeah, OK, I’d probably still enjoy it today…

Lugo’s Wake – “The Bender” (originally by Schäffer the Darklord) (NSFW)

A cover of Schäffer’s tribute to doing far too many drugs and alcohol in the style of Dropkick Murphys? Um, yes, obviously! Love it!

Debs & Errol – “My Eyes” (originally from the Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog soundtrack)

Two versions of the same song? Wow! Debs & Errol may be disbanding (boo!), but they still owe some songs to crowdfunders, so we may get some more from them before they’re completely gone. I sure hope so; I’ll miss them!

Leonard Nimoy – “Ruby Don’t Take Your Love to Town” (originally by Mel Tillis / Johnny Darrell)

I went through a cowboy phase when I was around 9 or 10 (yes, cowboys and wrestling… Look, don’t judge me, OK?), and I listened to a surprising amount of country music (which basically means more than one song, but still). For whatever reason, one of my favorite Kenny Rogers tunes was this one (I only just now learned that that version was itself a cover). So when I discovered that Nimoy covered it, I was very excited. And I was not disappointed! As I mentioned in my recent tribute to him, he will be missed.

aj in evolution, Debs & Errol, diatonic nerds, Leonard Nimoy, lugo's wake, mc ipod, professor shyguy, psychostick, the doubleclicks, uncle monsterface, zaccheus jammer

Looks like I’ve finally managed to self-plagiarize without even realizing it! I totally mentioned the Nimoy cover way back on one of my first covers lists:

In my defense – it really is my favorite of his covers, so I hope I can be forgiven for something that no one probably would have even noticed if I hadn’t pointed it out. :)
