Can’t get enough of Rock Band 2? If that’s the case then we have some good news for you: our friends over at Cornerstone Promotion have tipped us off to another awesome Game with Fame Xbox LIVE event, this time the opportunity to play Rock Band 2 with hard-rocking Finnish band HIM. The band will take time out from preparing for their next U.S. tour to play Xbox LIVE Gold Members in Rock Band 2 on Thursday, March 25th. Band members will be available between 9:00-11:00pm EST (6:00-8:00pm PST) to rock out with Xbox LIVE Gold Members.
How will you know if you’re playing with HIM? The band members will be using the Xbox LIVE Gamertag HIM GwF (don’t forget the space!). If you own a copy of Rock Band 2 (or can grab one from a friend) and want to play with HIM, be sure to send a friend request to HIM GwF and be online half an hour before the event is scheduled to begin (8:30pm EST/5:30pm PST). Game with Fame will be posting recaps from gamers all across the country who have a chance to rock with HIM, so if you’re one of the lucky few be sure to send an e-mail to xboxgwf@live.com describing your experience playing with HIM. Don’t forget to use the subject “GWF — HIM” and to include your Gamertag and home town!
Unfamiliar with HIM? The Finnish rock band formed in 1991 and released their first album, Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666, back in 1997. They followed this with a series of “dark and brooding hard rock” albums that built the band a dedicated fan base around the world. In 2006, HIM released Dark Light and became the first ever Finnish band to have a record certified Gold in the United States. Their latest album, Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice, was released in February of this year and the band will be touring the U.S. from the end of March through early May 2010.
According to HIM frontman Ville Valo, the new album can be described as “melancholic levity.” Valo also commented, “It’s way more tragic to see the light at the end of the tunnel, like if you know there’s something better but you can’t reach it. There’s the urgency that there are things we want on a personal and spiritual level, that there is a possibility of swimming to shore, so to speak, but the beach is very far away and filled with natives with spears and shotguns. It’s like the old torture method when you’re in shackles and chains, tied to four horses dragging you into four directions to tear you apart. That’s the vibe I wanted for this album.”
HIM is comprised of vocalist Ville Valo, lead guitarist Mikko Lindström, bassist Mikko Paananen, drummer Mika Karppinen, and keyboardist Janne Puurtinen. HIM music videos are available on the Zune Marketplace on Xbox LIVE.
