Game with Fame: Play Halo 3 with Slayer

If you’re reading our Web site, then the chances are pretty good that you are some type of gaming geek (it’s okay, we’re gaming geeks, too!). If your platform of choice is Xbox 360, you have an Xbox LIVE account, and you own a copy of Halo 3, then we have some exciting news for you!

Members of the popular heavy metal group Slayer will take time out of their busy schedules to bring their attitude and gaming skills to Xbox LIVE on Wednesday, December 16th, to play Halo 3 (in Slayer Mode, of course) with Xbox LIVE Gold members. Drummer Dave Lombardo and guitarist Kerry King will be available from 7:00pm – 9:00pm EST (4:00pm – 6:00pm PST) to kick ass with friends and fans alike. Game with Fame will post recaps from gamers across the country, so players who have a chance to do battle with Slayer are asked to send stories of their experiences, including gamertag and home town, to Game with Fame at xboxgwf@live.com using the subject “GWF — Slayer”.

How will you know if you’re playing with Slayer? The band members will be using the following gamertags for this Game with Fame event:

Not familiar with the band? Slayer is a heavy metal group that has been playing for sold-out audiences for over twenty years, earning two Grammy Awards and selling millions of albums in the process. Slayer’s eleventh studio album, World Painted Blood, was released on November 3, 2009, selling 41,000 copies in its first week and landing at #12 on the Billboard Top 200. Slayer is also nominated for a 2010 Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the single “Hate Worldwide” off of the new album. When asked to describe World Painted Blood, Dave Lombardo commented, “The rhythm riffs on this one make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It does it for me the same way those older records did.” Kerry King agreed, telling interviewers: “I think it has kind of a retro vibe to it. It sounds like the stuff we wrote in the 80s.”
