Well, this is really cool! The FuMP has hit their 1000th original song on their site. The list of artists featured on the track is a veritable who’s who of comedy musicians, including many previous podcast guests and others familiar to readers of this column (this list is below in the press release).

The song itself is a parody of The Proclaimers’ “(I’m Gonna Be) 500 Miles” and was written by the great Luke Ski with music by Bonecage. I love the way each artist references the various tracks that they’ve contributed to build up to that 1000 number. It’s a really fun track, worthy of the honor.

Congratulations to the FuMP for this momentous occasion! May they make 1000 more!

Press Release:

Today [Dec. 9], The Funny Music Project, aka The FuMP, announces that after releasing two songs a week on Tuesdays and Fridays (and sometimes three with the occasional Sunday release), and eight years since the website’s inception, they have finally reached ONE THOUSAND SONGS released on the site, www.TheFuMP.com, with this Friday’s release, appropriately titled “1,000 FuMPs”.

As a way to say thank you to the fans who’ve not only supported the site but also the various acts who tirelessly strive to bring the best in comedy music to those that love it, The FuMP’s 1,000th song is a meta-tribute to the acts and site itself, featuring nods to some of the biggest releases from the site from the artists themselves. This all-star track features (in order of appearance): Jace McClain (of Nuclear Bubble Wrap), Steve Goodie, Marc Gunn, the great Luke Ski, Jared Ringold (of Possible Oscar), Austin Aeschliman (of Smashy Claw), Dr. Milo T. Pinkerton III (of The Consortium of Genius), ShoEboX (of Worm Quartet), Robert Lund, Tony Goldmark, Ookla the Mok, TV’s Kyle & Lindsay Smith, Mikey Mason, Dino-Mike, Phil Johnson, Seamonkey, Tom Smith, DJ Particle, Carrie Dahlby, Bonecage, Devo Spice, Power Salad, Carla Ulbrich, and Insane Ian.

Writing credit for this milestone musical masterpiece goes to the great Luke Ski, with music, mixing, and mastering credit belonging to Bonecage. The song itself is a parody of “(I’m Gonna Be) 500 Miles” by The Proclaimers. A music video is planned as well, and should be available on the site and YouTube shortly after the song’s release.
