One of the most integral parts of any video game is the sound design, but it often goes unrecognized behind gamers’ attention to gameplay and graphics. Truth be told, audio has made and broken many a game, and this week’s Tumblr of the Week focuses exclusively on the sounds of one particular gaming franchise.
All Sounds of Assassin’s Creed
Fandom(s): Assassin’s Creed
Theme or gimmick: Most of the posts here are embedded sound files from the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
When it started: September 17, 2011
Tumblr intro: “This website is for the appreciation of the Assassin’s Creed series. All sounds, images, scenes belong to Ubisoft and their respective producers/artists. I do not own anything nor am I associated with the company in any way.”
Why it’s great: While all games that include sound tend to rely more on the audio than players tend to be aware, the Assassin’s Creed games always have had some particularly fantastic sounds and songs, from the ambient dialogue of NPCs in the streets to the sweeping themes that fill the score. Now you have one central hub to peruse whenever you need to hear a Renaissance doctor advertising his fresh caught leeches or a Crusades era woman imploring that she’s poor, sick, and hungry.
