Eraser arrived on Digital and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on June 16, marking the first time the 1996 action thriller will be available in 4K resolution with HDR. Directed by Chuck Russell, the film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Vanessa Williams in a high-stakes action story that blends explosive set pieces with government conspiracy and cutting-edge technology.
The film follows U.S. Marshal John Kruger, a specialist who “erases” the identities of witnesses entering protection programs. When his latest assignment involves protecting a whistleblower who has uncovered a dangerous weapons deal, Kruger finds himself caught in a deadly conspiracy with enemies on all sides. Forced to stay one step ahead, he must protect his witness while exposing the people willing to kill to keep their secrets hidden.
A standout entry in Schwarzenegger’s 1990s action catalog, Eraser combines large-scale action, suspense, and sci-fi elements, including its memorable futuristic weaponry and high-tech set pieces. The film remains a notable example of the era’s shift toward more technology-driven action thrillers.
This anniversary release includes new bonus features such as Reinventing the Modern Action Hero – The Evolution of Arnold, which looks at Schwarzenegger’s evolution as an action star, and ‘90s Action Thriller Reimagined, which explores the film’s place in the changing action landscape of the decade.
Eraser became available June 16 on Digital and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.
