Life has been nuts lately so I haven’t been as consistent. I will promise to try and get back on schedule. So, last week a trailer for Sailor Moon Crystal was released. I was quite excited and immediately shared it on Facebook and texted a few friends. It also gave me inspiration for this week’s Crushworthy Character. She is one of my favorite scouts and always been worth the attention.

Who is She?
Ami Mizuno is the smart girl super hero on Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon created by Takeuchi Naoko. Her alter ego is Sailor Mercury. Ami is the brains of the group. She is also very kind and considerate of others. She is very shy but blossoms into a strong lady as the series goes on. Ami was the first sailor senshi discovered by Usagi. She will soon be reinvented, for the better I’m sure, in Sailor Moon Crystal. She was played by Chisaki Hama in the live action series.

- Mercury was the most popular senshi in Japan.
- Ami wanted to be a doctor like her mother.
- Ami really loves romance novels.
- However, Ami does not like love letters and is allergic to them.
Why So Crushworthy?
Ami was the senshi I related to the most. We were both shy kids and kept to ourselves — except with people we were close to. I also liked the hidden strength that she carried. She was like the water she represented. Ami was initially trying to follow in her mother’s footsteps to become a doctor. She studied all the time to make good grades. After meeting Usagi and becoming a senshi, she opened herself up to new experiences and made friends. When she wasn’t helping save the world with Usagi she realized there was more to the world than studying.
I like most of the sailor senshi. Ami is just simply my favorite. Ami didn’t have to put on the tough girl face like Rei, Makoto, and Haruna. She was strong without words or posturing. She wasn’t an endearing klutz or a beauty. She was simply Ami. I wanted to be smart and cool like Ami when I was young.
