The Flash has taken over The CW, but that shouldn’t be a surprise since The CW had success with Arrow and Smallville (after the network merge). For some reason, they just keep striking gold. The shows also do a great job casting their heroes. The main hero of The Flash is no exception.

May contain spoilers!

Who is He?

Barry Allen is the main superhero in The Flash. He is played by the adorable Grant Gustin on the show. Barry Allen is the second Flash in the DC universe. His first appearance was in 1956. Barry gained his super speed by being struck by lightning, thanks to a storm caused by an exploding particle accelerator. Since then, he has defended Central City from the metahumans. He is an all around good guy and the hero of Central City.

Fun Fact:

Grant Gustin used to star on Glee. Talk about a role change!

Why So Crushworthy?

Barry Allen is the opposite of Oliver Queen. He is cheerful, optimistic, and tries to smile. He’s gone through some rough stuff but it hasn’t gotten him completely down. He takes almost every situation in stride. He is also smart and very considerate. Barry is dedicated to saving Central City and doing the right thing. He is equally dedicated to finding his mother’s killer. He has saved Central City many times. He’s even helped out in Starling City a time or two. Barry is just a nice guy. In his case, it’s impossible to finish last.

Barry is a total sweetheart. I would have tried to send him love notes in high school. Or I would have asked for a tutoring session in college. Barry isn’t too lucky in the love department, though. His unrequited love for Iris has only brought him trouble. I definitely do not ship this pairing, even though there are the comic books. He tried dating another girl but that didn’t work out. Even his connection with Felicity remained platonic. I’m on the Barry-needs- to-move-on train. Despite his unlucky streak, I am always rooting for Barry.
