If you’re into post-apocalyptic fiction (and, really, who around here isn’t?), you definitely need to check out the BBC’s Survivors TV series. This has nothing to do with the similarly named reality show and everything to do with a group of people trying to make their way through a plague-ravaged world. Survivors debuted in 1975 and ran through 1977 but recently was resurrected as a new series. BBC has sent us box sets of both the old and new Survivors series, and we’re giving them away!
Three lucky winners each will get the original Survivors complete series on DVD, as well as the new one. You have between now and Friday night, May 14, 2010, at midnight Eastern time to enter. There are two ways to enter:
1) Leave a comment here, telling us what your favorite post-apocalyptic story is, whether on TV, movies, comics, video games, or elsewhere.
or
2) Follow @Fandomania on Twitter and tweet this message: “Follow @Fandomania and retweet this message to enter the BBC Survivors contest! http://bit.ly/9UC9fP”
Do either of the above, and you’ll get an entry into the contest. Do both, and you’ll get two entries!
Good luck!
One of my favorites is the escape from new york & 28 days later

I have to admit my favorite post-ap story is a tie between 2 TV shows that start with J: Jericho and Jeremiah
An early entry that holds up is “By the Waters of Babylon” by Stephen Vincent Benet.
Having just reread the uncut The Stand recently, I gotta go with that. Wowza. What a brilliant, dark yet somewhat hopeful view of humanity and what it’s capable of.
Age of Apocalypse is my favorite comic post-apocalyptic story. Reign of Fire and Terminator 2 (the future war stuff) in terms of movies.
The Purple Cloud, a little-known book I read when I was about 8 years old.
Gotta admit I loved Mad Max when it came out!

I would have to go with the original Planet of the Apes.
Children of Men
A cold war era novel called Alas, Babylon.
