Actually, for this year’s Children In Need special, we are given a two-minute sneak peek into the 2008 Christmas special, deceptively dubbed “The Next Doctor.”
From what can be gathered in this prologue, it seems that The Doctor is about to cross paths with an imposter played by David Morrissey. It’s one thing that the Cybermen are back in this story, but the thing that excites me about this is the reunion of David Tennant with David Morrissey. The two were dancing circles around each other in the six episode miniseries Blackpool. Now we get to see them trying to Out-Doctor each other.
“The Next Doctor” will be the first of four Doctor Who specials throughout 2008 and 2009. At the conclusion of the 2009 Christmas special we are expecting David Tennant to deliver his actual regeneration into the Eleventh Doctor.
