Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on September 23. Directed by Juan Meza-Léon from a script by Ernie Altbacker, the film reimagines Batman through the world of 16th-century Mesoamerica. Jay Hernandez and Raymond Cruz lead the English-language voice cast, while Horacio García Rojas, Omar Chaparro, and Álvaro Morte headline the Spanish version.
This new story follows Yohualli Coatl, a young Aztec boy whose father is murdered by Spanish conquistadors. Seeking vengeance and determined to warn King Moctezuma of the threat to his people, Yohualli escapes to Tenochtitlán. There he trains under the bat god Tzinacan, developing weapons and skills to confront the invaders. Along his journey he meets allies like Jaguar Woman and Forest Ivy, while preparing for the fight of his life against the encroaching empire.
As a reimagining, the film blends DC’s classic mythology with the culture and history of Mesoamerica, creating a version of Batman both recognizable and strikingly new. The focus is on Yohualli’s transformation into a symbol of resistance, with the Aztec empire’s fate hanging in the balance.
Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires is available September 19 on Digital and arrives September 23 on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
