There are a couple of recent announcements from the FuMP that I think will be of interest to readers. First up is the announcement of the Sixth Annual Comedy Music Awards which will happen at Marscon in March. Currently the Logan Whitehurst Memorial Awards for Excellence in Comedy Music are taking fan nominations in case they missed anything in their already pretty impressive list. You have until January 28 to write in any nominations that didn’t make the cut. Here are the details:
Press Release: The Logan Whitehurst Memorial Awards for Excellence in Comedy Music, aka The Logan Awards, in association with The Funny Music Project, aka The FuMP, announces that the nominations for the sixth annual comedy music awards are now open. Fans can now write in their picks for songs and/or videos to be nominated from any of the comedy music releases from 2015. The award ceremony will be held at the fan-run science fiction convention Marscon, at the Hilton Minneapolis/St Paul Mall of America in Bloomington, MN the weekend of March 4-6.
The Logan Awards are held every year to showcase the very best in comedy music, presented in three categories: Outstanding Original Comedy Song, Outstanding Parody Song, and Outstanding Comedy Music Video. Each year, the awards committee is run by a new chairperson, who selects two groups of jurors (three currently active comedy musicians and three from comedy music fandom) to select the finalists from the list of open nominees suggested by fans of comedy music. This year, Angela Brett is the chairperson, and she has selected three fan jurors and three comedy musician jurors to help select the finalists. As with every year however, any ties would be settled by the awards’ permanent Judge, the legendary radio DJ: Dr. Demento.
To nominate your favorite songs, head to http://voting.loganawards.com/ and sign up! Open nominations close on January 28th, to allow time for the jurors to make their final five selections for each category for the presentation of the awards at Marscon. For more information on the jurors, past winners, and more; be sure to check out http://www.loganawards.com/
In addition to the Logan Awards, the FuMP is also once again offering a USB drive with all of the music produced by FuMP artists in 2015 if you subscribe to their site for just $4.99 per month. The offer is open to both new and renewing subscriptions, and the USB can be purchased via their store as well. If you’re in need of some good comedy music and want to help support the FuMP, now’s a good time to do it! There are more details (and some clarifications) below.
