Tumblr can be a gimmicky fountain that delivers a constant flood of instantly likable memes or shareable images. Every once in a while, though, a Tumblr digs deeper and becomes something useful on a level beyond just entertainment or instant fun gratification. Today’s Fandom Tumblr of the Week is rooted firmly in that territory and is a must read for any fans of video games or the process of making video games.
Serenity Forge
Fandom(s): Video games
Theme or gimmick: All the posts are either articles about video games and their design or updates about Serenity Forge’s own game development.
When it started: July 16, 2013
Tumblr intro: “We talk about video games here. We speculate on game philosophy and show off the games we work on.”
Why it’s great: Serenity Forge is a developer in their own right, but they also have a lot of intriguing and fascinating observations about games in general. The articles they post make for reading that is more interesting than the majority of what gets posted onto the large “industry” game news sites, and that makes their blog worth following.
