Since American Horror Story is a miniseries and can revamp their cast into different characters each season, it’s refreshing but at the same time frustrating because you never know where the story is going to start and who will be back on board. When I heard the rumors that the third season would involve witches I was excited and then other tidbits started to pour in that left me with a display of worry on my face. Coven has the potential to be awesome with witch hunts, slavery and, of course, my badass grandma (I wish), but there are a handful of things that have me second guessing that whole “awesome” idea.
5. Big Names on the Roster
Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Gabourey Sidibe have been cast and while AHS has had some A-listers in the past, this season doesn’t seem to need them. It’s secured its fan base and Jessica Lange’s really all we need.
4. Modern Day & The Past…Again?
The oddest part about Asylum minus the aliens that left us hanging was the flashbacks to modern time with Adam Levine and Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Were we supposed to end up caring about those two? Because we didn’t. Ryan Murphy will lose many viewers if that’s the case and Evan Peters’s character is that modern time guy who gets like two seconds of screen time each week. Hopefully he’s smarter than that.
3. Evan & Emma
Can you tell I’m all for Evan yet? Well, he and new cast member Emma Roberts are an item off screen and this past summer had a little domestic violence altercation up in Canada. Will that make for awkward scenes if they happen to be in the same storyline? Get her back to her puppy hotel.
2. It’s Supposed to be Funny?
I heard that Murphy said this season was going to have a bit more humor. Slavery jokes…?
1. Missing Puzzle Pieces
No Zachary Quinto, no Dylan McDermott? Say it ain’t so! I’m sure playing Spock pays way more but he was the best character from Asylum, and Dylan — well, it’s just hard to see one of the key players gone.
You really should have put a *spoiler alert* on this post. You just ruined the whole fucking second season for me in less than a minute’s read.
