It’s been scientifically proven (or at least I’m going to claim that it has, for the purpose of this grandiose sentence) that the gene controlling one’s propensity toward geekiness is closely linked with the gene that makes one want to acquire things. That is the indisputable reason for the majority of geeks’ living spaces being filled with all manner of awesome collectibles, decor, and apparel. This week’s fandom Tumblr will feed your need for new and shiny things, so follow it with your credit card either in hand or under lock and key.
And speaking of Tumblr, check this out: Fandomania now has its very own Tumblog! With the launch of our new website, we also have spread into Tumblr’s corner of the Internet with daily updates linking back to our posts here. Check it out, follow us, and help spread the link love! You can find our new Tumblr right here: Fandomania on Tumblr.
Without further ado, here’s our newest featured blog:
Geeky Merch
Fandom(s): Various geekeries and fandoms
Theme or gimmick: Each post features purchasable merchandise with a link to where you can buy it
When it started: July 4, 2011
Tumblr intro: “At Geeky Merch, we’re all about promoting geeky creators and supporting all sellers, big and small. On our blog you can find all types of nerdy merch from every corner of the internet. Each item has a link underneath, so if you fall in love with anything on our page you can go and buy one of your own!”
Why it’s great: There is a ton of geeky stuff online on which you can spend your hard earned cash (or Bitcoins or Paypal or whatever you use). A lot of it is kind of sub-par. The folks who run Geeky Merch have great taste in purchasables, and they feature products made by fans for fans, so you can avoid some of the less awesome geeky gear as you peruse their spotlights. Following this blog will give you a constant stream of worthy goodies you’ll want to add to your collection and wardrobe.
