The Spirit Flops
In a not entirely surprising turn of events, The Spirit failed to live up to all its hype over the holiday week and weekend. Perhaps more surprising is the magnitude of the movie’s failure, bringing in only $6.5 million over the December 26-28 weekend. After the box office dust settled, The Spirit fell into ninth place, behind pretty much everything else in theaters, from Marley and Me to Valkyrie to even The Day the Earth Stood Still.
