The official theatrical trailer for The Spirit is now available online. It confirms that the movie will be a very stylistic venture, very much in the style of Sin City and perhaps even moreso. The trailer focuses on the many gorgeous women surrounding The Spirit and then makes an abrupt left turn to the weirdness that is Samuel L. Jackson in this movie. Seriously, SamJack, what the hell?

Lionsgate has announced that their film adaptation of The Spirit has a new release date of December 25, 2008. The previous release date was to be January 16, 2009, but this earlier date will have the film hitting theaters on Christmas Day and facing off against two comedies that also are coming out on Christmas, Adam Sandler’s Bedtime Stories and Fox’s Marley and Me.

New York Comic Con saw the unleashing of the first teaser trailer for Frank Miller’s The Spirit this weekend. It looks quite Sin Citylicious. Check it out in regular format as well as HD at MTV’s website.

The newest promotional poster for the film adaptation of The Spirit has been released at New York Comic Con this weekend. It features Eva Mendes as Sand Saref, and I’m struck by how much the marketing for this movie reminds me of Frank Miller’s other comic-to-film directorial project, Sin City.

The Spirit is based on the comics of Will Eisner and releases January 16, 2009. It also stars Gabriel Macht, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L Jackson, Jaime King, Paz Vega, and Sarah Paulson.

Lionsgate has opened the new official website for the upcoming film adaptation of The Spirit. The movie is slated for a 2009 release and stars Gabriel Macht, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Jaime King, Paz Vega, and Samuel L. Jackson. The Spirit is based on the classic comic book by comics legend Will Eisner and is adapted and directed by Sin City scribe Frank Miller.
The new website has a forum and will feature all sort of promotional material prior to the film’s release. It currently sports a countdown with the words “I’m on my way.” Check it out at http://www.mycityscreams.com/.
You can check out the classic comics that inspired the movie with DC’s collection, The Spirit Archives, Vol. 1
