In a first for Rock Band, free downloadable content is being offered as a preorder incentive from a retail store. This week Best Buy announced that they will provide a code for two free Rock Band downloadable songs by Disturbed to anyone who preorders the band’s new CD, Indestructible. The promotion starts tomorrow, and the songs will be downloadable on June 3. The downloadable songs will be “Inside the Fire” and “Indestructible.”
Given that previous exclusively released Rock Band songs have been released later through the usual channels as for-pay downloads, I think it’s safe to assume that these two tracks will be available through the regular Rock Band Store for download at the usual prices at some later date.
After the release of Motley Crue’s new single via Rock Band and now this promotion, it’s been a good month or two for Rock Band innovation and integration with the music industry.
