I’m not usually one to chastise comic book illustrators for the way they sexualize and objectify women. That said, I couldn’t in good conscience write a review of Grimm Fairy Tales: Myths & Legends #16 without mentioning two illustrations that I found problematic enough to warrant attention.

The first issue of Homeworlds tells the story of James Vega, a new character in Mass Effect 3. Once you know the background of Vega, it makes his character more fleshed out and more relatable.

Myths & Legends #15 is the conclusion to the series’s four-part “Beauty and the Beast” story arc that began in issue #12 when readers were introduced to Jeff and Jenna. As always, I recommend Zenescope’s Myths & Legends series to anyone that enjoys the publisher’s other comic books or is looking for a different take on some of the stories we remember from childhood.

The Jungle Book #2 opens with a pack of tigers stalking their prey. Among them is Bomani, a human boy raised among the tigers. He has not been able to kill any prey and the leader, Shere Khan, is getting fed up with the young man.

With the promise of no more trauma, Faith has sought out Dru for her release. That is where we last left our Slayer and where we pick up this issue. Is this her golden ticket or is she condemning herself to yet another round of abuse?

With a storyline reminiscent of the noir of old, this issue of the Charmed comic sets out to explore Paige and Henry’s desire to keep little Henry Jr. with them. Social services has found his birth father, but Dad’s not exactly the law-abiding type to entrust a baby to. But Paige has a plan, one that is a bit magically-influenced.

In the second issue of Alpha Girl, we start off by seeing Judith at her two jobs. One is working at “The Book Mart” and the other is selling her body fluids and more for a high price. Her brother is going to need a lawyer after all. In the background of all this, the readers can tell that the zombie invasion is getting worse. Judith doesn’t notice.

When last we left the storyline, Buffy found out that not only was she not pregnant, but also her entire existence was a lie. She was a BuffyBot, but how long had she been switched with the real Slayer?

Alana, Marko, and Hazel are still on the run in the second issue of Saga. Their poor daughter has only been alive three days and already she’s been hunted, threatened, and scared out of her mind. Life with her parents is never boring.

Issue #20 of the Charmed comic kicks off Volume 4, or the fourth arc, of the continuing storyline. Magical beings have been stripped of their powers and normals have been given abilities. Now it’s up to the sisters to figure out how to fix a world turned upside down.
