Ninja Gaiden II Demo Coming

NinjagaidenIt’s safe to say that Tecmo / Team Ninja’s Ninja Gaiden II is one of the most highly anticipated upcoming games for the XBox 360. The game itself is slated for a June 3 release, but the official Ninja Gaiden II website now promises that you will be able to get in some early slicing and dicing with a demo that will be headed to the XBox Live Marketplace in May.

Buffy #16 Preview Online

Buffy16MySpace Comic Books has a three page preview of Buffy the Vampire Slayer #16 online. This is the first issue featuring art by Karl Moline and looks to be the beginning of a new story arc. Check out the preview, but be warned that there’s a little bit of hype-type spoilage for the issue.

Tahmoh Penikett Cast in Dollhouse

HeloThe cast of Joss Whedon’s upcoming series Dollhouse continues to grow with the addition of Tahmoh Penikett, best known as Helo on SciFi’s Battlestar Galactica. Penikett will play Paul Smith, a romantic foil to Eliza Dushku’s Echo. Also new to the cast list are Dichen Lachman and Enver Gjokaj.

Karl Moline To Draw Buffy

Buffy16Georges Jeanty has been the regular series artist for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 comic book from issue #1, but an old face from the Buffy comicverse will return to art duties, beginning with issue #16. Karl Moline drew the 2003 series Fray, a story written by Joss Whedon and introducing Melaka Fray, a future slayer who wielded the Slayer’s Scythe in comics long before it ever appeared in the Buffy TV series. Moline was sketchy about the details of his upcoming work on the current Buffy series but did let a couple of tidbits slip in an interview he did at Comic Book Resources. Check out the overall interview there, but be warned that some minor spoilers do get hinted at:

New Castle Crashers Video

CastlecrashersCastle Crashers is an upcoming game for the XBox Live Arcade that’s being developed by Behemoth. It’s been highly anticipated for a while now and features adorably animated knights that hack their way through awesomely drawn levels in a multiplayer blaze of glory. To whet our appetites for the game even more, the developers have started posting some new videos over on their dev blog. The latest one has a video showing the creation of a level in superspeed. It’s a neat thing to watch if you’re interested in this game, game creation in general, or even just in art.

Next Avengers Trailer

NextavengersThe next animated movie from Marvel won’t feature Ultimate versions or even classic versions of the publisher’s superheroes. Rather, the focus will be on an alternate-universe new generation of heroes—namely, the children of the Avengers. I’m assuming the movie will take a whole lot of liberties and won’t really tie into the real Marvel Universe in any tangible way, given that the movie has Giant Man and Wasp making babies instead of domestic disturbances, and apparently Captain America was supposed to have done some begetting with Black Widow instead of taking a bullet to the gut. Even so, the movie looks interesting, if a bit kiddy-fied. Check out the trailer at Comics2Film:

Julie Benz Cast in Saw V

JuliebenzVarious sources today report that Julie Benz has been cast in the next installment of the Saw franchise. Benz is well known to fandom through any of her many genre-friendly roles. She played Darla on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, did voicework for Halo 2, appeared in Supernatural, and more recently plays Rita in Dexter and appears in Rambo and the upcoming Punisher sequel. Saw V started shooting a few days ago in Toronto and is slated for release October 24.

Secretinvasion1The big story in Marvel Comics these days is the upcoming Secret Invasion, an infiltration of the superhero ranks by the shapeshifting alien Skrull race. Speculation and hype has been running high for this controversial crossover series, and EW has a first look with the cover and first nine pages online.

Bowen Designs Wolverine Statue

Bowen Wolverine Classic Museum Statue 007Bowen Designs continues to put out amazing pieces in their line of statues of Marvel heroes and villains. The latest full size statue in the series is Wolverine. Bowen recently released Wolvie in two costume versions: a classic yellow “tigerstripe” edition and a Frank Miller-esque brown edition. The statues each come with two bases—a short one featuring an X logo, and a taller one to give the diminutive mutant a little height in your collection. Shown here are some shots of the classic yellow version, claws SNIK’ed and ready for action.
